What Is Soccerex?
  • PublishedOctober 4, 2012

Soccerex, undoubtedly the global leader for promoting the business of football, hosts its first West African seminar at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria on the 27th and 28th of September. Co-hosted by the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), the event, which is to promote the development of football in the sub-region, is destined to be a regular occasion in the years to come.

Over 750 regional and global decision makers in the sport, as well as its aligned industries – agencies, technology suppliers, brands, stadia and the media – will come together to rub minds, expand their horizons and do business.

“We are proud to host Soccerex. Over the next four years it will place Lagos firmly on the map of the global football business and make it a destination for football tourism,” said LSFA chairman, Seyi Akinwunmi. “It will help us achieve one of our aims of using “Eko Football”, our brand, to create employment and commercial opportunities in Lagos.”

Learn from the industry’s best at the conference

The Soccerex Seminar Lagos will deliver a comprehensive conference agenda, consisting of a series of sessions and workshops, to tackle the latest issues in West African football. Legends of the game and industry experts will engage in frank conversations with representatives from football governing bodies, clubs, federations and leagues.

They will share their insight on several topical issues, including youth development, the development of the professional club structure, the “life cycle” of the African footballer, as well as best practices for international investors looking to do business in West Africa.

Confirmed high-profile speakers at the event include the former vice-chairman of Arsenal FC and the Football Association, David Dein; former FIFA World Player of the Year George Weah; former Manchester United and England captain Bryan Robson; Nigerian legend Nwankwo Kanu, as well as the president of the Ghanaian FA, Kwesi Nyantakyi.

It is an opportunity to meet more industry players in two days than you could over months and do serious business. The Soccerex Seminar Lagos will be the place for any company looking to do serious business in West Africa, with all regional stakeholders in attendance.

A line-up of exhibition pods will display the latest football products and services. There will also be a series of designated networking sessions, designed to help with fostering new relationships, solidify old ones, promoting business and expanding your horizons.

Everyone is being urged to live the Soccerex experience. Soccerex is famous for offering delegates the chance to relax and make the most of their time and this will be a staple of the Seminar Lagos.

Delegates will enjoy exclusive social events – including music, relaxing cocktails and entertaining celebrity events – during conference evenings, to recover from the intense days.
