VICE-PRESIDENT (FINANCE & CORPORATE SERVICES)

ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) is a leading international finance institution owned by the 15 Ecowas Member States and located in Lomé, Togo. The Bank is committed to the promotion of the private sector and development of the public sector through its financing of Ecowas and New Partnership for Africa’s Development (Nepad) projects and programmes relating to transport, energy, telecommunications, basic infrastructure, the environment, natural resources, etc.

1. Object of the Position
To assist the President of the Bank to provide overall leadership, strategic direction and management of the Bank.

2. Duties and Responsibilities
The Vice-President (Finance & Corporate Services) will supervise the activities of the Finance, Administration, Corporate Services and Communication Unit departments of the Bank.
Specific duties include assisting the President of the Bank to:
i) run the day-to-day administration and management of the Bank;
ii) propose to the Board of Directors the strategic direction of the Bank;
iii) formulate policies and strategic plans for the Bank;
iv) supervise the preparation and submission of relevant reports and policy documents on the operations of the Bank;
v) co-ordinate the establishment and strategic management of financial, administrative, engineering, marketing and internal audit systems and procedures and other organisational structures to achieve corporate effectiveness and efficiency;
vi) develop and maintain a culture that will foster co-operation, commitment, efficiency, accountability and productivity within the organisation;
vii) develop and implement systems and methods of effective monitoring and control of the Bank’s activities;
viii) perform any duty that may be assigned by the President of the Bank.

3. Qualifications and Experience
An advanced university degree in Accounting, Finance, Marketing or any relevant field from a recognised institution with not less than 15 years’ post-qualification relevant work experience, five years of which must be in a senior management position. A professional qualification would be an additional advantage. Candidates must be highly competent in the field of bank management
and administration.

4. Competencies and Skills
i) strong managerial and organisational skills;
ii) demonstration of creativity and good business acumen;
iii) excellent leadership and decision making skills;
iv) excellent administrative and supervising skills;
v) excellent communication, analytical and interpersonal skills;
vi) good team player;
vii) proficiency in computer applications with a good knowledge and practice of computerised accounting and financial systems;
viii) ability to organise and motivate others and to work in a multicultural environment.

5. Duration of Contract
The position shall be governed by a four-year contract, renewable once.

6. General Requirements for the Position
Candidates must be:
• Nationals of Ecowas Member States;
• Computer literate (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint);
• Proficient in one of Ecowas’ working languages (English, French and Portuguese). Knowledge of another of the working languages will be an additional advantage.
