Cyril Ramaphosa: “President Zuma won’t be treated with disrespect, South Africa has a ‘game plan’ to boost economy”

In an interview with Bloomberg Television at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the newly elected ruling African National Congress (ANC) President and South Africa’s Deputy national President Cyril Ramaphosa, is cautiously optimistic about the future of Africa’s largest economy, and he belives that “ the wheels of change are moving… and they are going to start speeding up.”

Ramaphosa, whose election as ANC last month, positions him to succeed President Jacob Zuma, when his turbulent scandal-clad nine-year tenure comes to an end next year, was also asked to comment on the issue many want answers to. Will President Zuma serve out his term?

“We have taken a view that this is a very, very difficult matter,” the former trade union leader and businessman tell the Bloomberg adding: “We have decided we are going to manage this transition very carefully. What we don’t want to see is him treated with disrespect. We will manage it so well so that it does not divide the nation.”
